Its been, what three weeks since I first lugged my suitcases up into my dorm room on campus. Oh I still remember the aqumilating stress of being dropped into a fucking filthy room in a strange new country. But I won't bore me with diving into retrospective whining about the state of the place. It was grosse, now its less grosse, let's leave it with that.
I also have a room mate, let's call her London, because one; that's where she's from, and two; seeing as 80% of the students here haven't ever seen an European (except in photos) and find her accent to be like the coolest invention since, I don't know, weed! Oh, my favourite question to poor London (so far) is "have you met the Queen?" She's from England so surly she must have, serioiusly...
I also have three, no wait, four other room/flatmates (although I might as well just have had three, but we'll get to that). Two Latinas, one rather ADD photo major and a Korean who hardly comes out of her room except to pee on the toilet ring (or so I'm told)

Brynat and the City

Since last I wrote I have left the fair land of Sweden to travel a cors the sea to the land of plenty, hospitality and over sized. I'm sitting in the Tsco. family's temporary house in CT, before moving onto campus tomorrow. I've only been here a few days but because of everyone's helpfulness and generosity I can conclude that so far so good. I have been treated to, but not limited to, food, housing, transportation, more food, movies, Broadway shows, drinks, baseball games, cell phones, yoga mats and cooking appliances. These people are so very nice.
A.T, the oldest of the Tsco kids is a talented photographer and costume designer in New York City. Together with M.B she just concluded the performance of "Bryant In The Park": a performance play set in Bryant Park about a fictional croquet society using the work of William Cullen Bryant. A.T designed the costumes of the piece that has received publicity by The New York Times as well as Time Out New York.
Here's a short summary from the art.party.theater.compamny's webpage.
"A dozen members of the exclusive and imaginary Bryant Park Croquet Society were dressed in white and playing croquet on Bryant Park's main lawn. Sipping tea and gossiping, they amuse the crowd that gathers around. Suddenly, as if possessed by a spirit, they burst into William Cullen Bryant's odes to nature. Slowly, they begin to transform and finally surrender to summer and its wild power through dance, music, and movement. At the end of the performance, members of the Bryant Park Croquet Society collected onlookers' feelings about summer."
I've also been treated to a Boston Red Socks vs New York Yankees baseball game as well as a BBQ, a new cell phone and kitchen appliances to my new apartment. I'm happy, I'm so glad.
Photo from their webpage, by the way. DON'T SUE ME!

Moochy Moochy!
Fantastic update: My New World Friends are happily greeting their Old World Friend. I will be staying with them for a few days whilst in New Canaan in August.
New Canaan is my old (old old old) home time. Don't remember much of it, I do view Gothenburg as my home town now. But for the longest time as a kid I was completely obsessed with moving back to CT. A blast from the past? I think so.
I meen, we have ol' time retro sailors in Gothenburg. How can you NOT love that?

A Bit Minamalistic, Don't Ya Think?

Some new work, inspired by a lot of resent work I have seen. This style seems more commercial and American for some reasons, not that that makes it any less esthetically pleasing.

I could imagine this would be accesseble enough to go into a cooking book or web page. A big 50's house wife-esque

Whilst this is probably more inspired by brand art such as that of Monki and Weekday.
P.S You its all copyrighted, naturally.

Early Amatuer Eats Catches the Early Bus Home

Woke up five minutes before the set time because there was somebody trying to reach me- through my cell phone. Still very sleepy and a bit uncoordinated I manage to reach the phone and answer. Its the New York Artist Lady (work fetured above) who I sometimes lend a helping hand to. She's nice but neurotic, sort of expected though right?
"Are you busy today?"
"Yes."
"Tomorrow?"
"No."
"Come by my place at 11.00"
"Ok."
*hangs up*
*ring ring*
"Hello?"
"Make that 12.00"
"Ok."
"Bye."
*hangs up*
*ring ring*
"Sorry, 13.30"
"Alright. Bye."
*hangs up*
I've noticed that New Yorkers like to speak very... direct. Rude even, some times. But not because they want to be rude, but because they are rude, by nature. At the same time as they are very helpful and nice and fun to be around... hmmm. I must meditate further upon this matter.
But by that time it was time for a little rude awakening of my own! Amateur Eats was sleeping it off in the bed above me -yes I have a bunk bed- and I just could not allow this to go on any longer. Plus that she looks adorable whilst sleepy!
God Wants Me To Go! God Wantes Me To Go! God Wants Me To Go!
I'm just posting this picture of Shakebook from when we were in Scotland because I can- and I love this picture.Tickets came through today! The 20th of Aug I am gonna be on that plane, college or no!
Shakebook threw a dinner party yesterday, so I met up with Amateur Eats, Isa and T. to take the buss out to Shakebook's house. I was already pushing my luck -leaving my self only 15 min to get from my house to the buss stop. Then, being the retard that I am, I forget to get off at the right tram stop and instead have to run three blocks back just to make it in time for the buss. Funniest thing is that I actually saw Amateur Eats, Isa and T. outside through the window and still I manage to NOT jump off of the tram. That's a special kind of stupid. But then again I am a special type of girl.
Long story short: ate too much, watched Monty Python and got kicked out at 23.00. However, on the way back, whilst waiting with Amateur eats by the buss station I all of a sudden spot my big sister walking towards me. And what's more is that my big sisters oldest and best friend is with her-
This is all very exciting and strange because her best friend lives in Thailand! Not Sweden. Or well, actually she lives in Thailand, Australia, France and on some rare occasions Sweden. And this woman LOVES me!

"Daintydog!" and she throws her arms around me in a rib crushing hug. What a pleasant surprise indeed. She's a skinny, pretty girl of the 26th who's been backpacking around the world with her awesome French boyfriend for a couple of years now. She has all these stories that she likes to tell about me when I was a kid, and about her adventures around the world.
Apparently she and my Big Sis had gone out for a drink and were on their way back to Globetrotter's house to pack the last of her belongings. It was now 00.32 and in 8h Globetrotter had to catch the flight to Paris. Both Big Sis and Globetrotter were a bit under the influence and invited us to their house to get us under the influence as well. Which me and Amateur agreed to and did.
So after a lot of talking, smoking, drinking and eating a cake that really I wish I hadn't it was 04.00 and we left to go home and sleep. What a wonderful spontaneous night! I love those.

It Seems That God Does Not Want Me To Go

Headache...
Woke up to find that -for reasons unknown to mankind- the charge for the plane tickets has not been charged to my debit card and that I was therefore to call S.A.S to make sure that my reservation is not canceled. So I called. Ten minutes of elevator music later I am put through to "Anna". Hello Anna, my name is S. Well it seems that there has been some mistake. Yes my debit card does have enough money on it to pay for these tickets. I don't know, perhaps you could try charging it again? You'll do so directly? Fantastic, thank you Anna. *hangup*
An hour later and still no sign of any amount of money being charged to my card (I can tell) and this is when S. gets very very very nervous. WHat if it dosnt work? What if they cancel my reservations. Its not fair cause I DO have enough to pay for it. No fair, no fun.
This is just one out of a hundred little signs from above that has lead me to believe that the lord all mighty just isn't too keen on my N.Y plans. Why God? Why?
